When using the Internet, it is very important to choose the right username. Like your real name, it is what everyone calls you by and remembers. Your username tells a lot about you and you must choose something appropriate.
Sometimes a noob can be identified simply by their username. They are usually very unoriginal and have many numbers following them. A good username is creative and original. If the username is already taken and you must use more than three numbers after it, just choose something else. Don’t make your username a spinoff of someone else. This will make you sound like an idiot fanboy who can’t think for themselves. You should also refrain from adding a random and unnecessary status message after your username in parentheses. It is very annoying, and unless it is a message telling of a temporary absence or a defective mailbox, there is absolutely no need for it. Your username should also be readable. If you can’t read it aloud, it is most likely not a good username.

As for your icon, it can really be anything, as long as it represents you. Like your username, it is best to choose something original.

It has been a couple weeks since I seriously entered a DP Challenge and what an odd, perfect and successful time to resume. This past week’s challenge called to choose another DPC-user and take a photograph that represents their username (titling the entry with the chosen user’s name). I don’t know how or where this, or any of my other ideas come from, but here it is; this picture is titled “Zipgirl”.
